Enriching Lives Through Various Activities

Community Service & Disaster

Serves the community in three ways:

Develops relationships with key community service providers and assesses needs within the community

Responds to request for assistance for victims of disaster.

Community Dinners

Homemade meals served to area residents by members of the committee. Held at the Meredith Community Center the fourth Wednesday of each month. Dinner is served at 5:30. Doors open at 5:00 to give everyone a chance to visit with neighbors over a cup of coffee. The meal is free, although donations are gratefully accepted and will be used to help fund future dinners.

Finance / Bylaws

Finance monitors financial records and monetary needs for operation.  Finance evaluates committee chair budget requests and uses these to prepare the annual budget which is in turn submitted to the board and club membership for approval.  

Reviews Bylaws and makes recommendations for any changes to Club Bylaws and keeps membership aware of changes;  presents changes to the District BRR for approval prior to membership for final approval

Ho​spitality

Organizes and runs programs for dinner meetings and internal fund raisers. Committee members serve as hosts for dinner meetings, including  but not limited to setting up, reserving meeting rooms, collecting dinner money, running dinner raffles, greeting visitors, guests & members

Literacy 

Proposes and implements projects to promote and develop literacy competency for all ages within the local & greater international communities.
Our sub committees have been based upon these on-going projects but are not limited to or "bound" to these:
 

  • WIC:  Women, Infants and Children
  • Readings: To Daycare & Preschoolers 
  •  K-Bags:  Given to incoming kindergartners 
  • Library Home Bound Deliveries: To Adults/Seniors
  •  International Projects:  Various ages, depending upon the specific project chosen for support.
  • Summer reading material included to:
    Got Lunch! Inter-Lakes.

Membership Committee

Plans and presents/implements informational meetings and other ongoing programs to gain new members and to retain existing members. Mentors prospective members and coordinates the initiation of new members

Scholarship

Mission and Vision of the Scholarship Committee

Mission: To provide educational scholarships to the non-traditional student 23 years of age or older in our local communities through the intentions and benefits of the
Dr. Jeanette Ritzenthaler and Marian Touhey
Scholarship Funds.  

 

    Vision: To differentiate and recognize the Meredith Altrusa Club Scholarship Program as a leading source of educational

scholarships for the non-traditional student within
our communities.

Communications

Implements processes for communicating to members
Operates and maintains the website:
www.altrusameredithnh.org;

 updates the website, posts press releases, flyers, and information on programs and events sponsored by the club; publishes two periodic newsletters and sends them to club members and District One; submits photos and articles to local newspapers and other media to promote and raise awareness of Altrusa;  partners with other area clubs, District One and International to promote Altrusa activities both locally
and globally.

Maintains copies of the club's documents, awards and photos, along with updating a digital photo frame displaying our club activities at events throughout the year.
